Chairs are set up for the auction.

In July 2008, we welcomed Hannah Ruth Chetwynd into the church through the sacrament of Baptism. She is joined withe her Mom and Dad, Margaret and Ryan Chetwynd.

On July 6, 2008, we welcomed the Williams family to Holy Cross church as we rededicated a memorial plaque for their brother who was killed in World War 2 at the age of 20. The plaque had been in St. Peter's Church, West Green Harbour.

For the 3rd year, the anglican church had a float in Lockeport's Canada Day parade. This year's theme was "A night at the Movies," and float designer Elizabeth Pooley turned her husband's trailer into the Emerald City in the Land of Oz. Joining her (as the lion) is Catherine MacIntosh (Tin Woodsman), Elizabeth deMolitor (Scarecrow), and Shirley Townsend (Dorothy).

The float won 2nd organizational, 2nd use of theme and 3rd for decorated vehicle.

Here are some of the pictures from our Barrington Beach Bash - a combined service with the Parish of Shelburne. This picture is of some of the BBQ preparations. For more pictures of the youth getting messy, please click on the "youth pics" tab. Thanks go to Donnie Shortliffe for these pictures.

The Beach Bash BBQ

We had a special new liturgy for Eucharist with Children (Big kids were welcome too)

Receiving communion from the children with the help of some Eucharistic ministers. Here, one young fellow named Leigh decided to ask someone about making the sign of the cross.

Although "Amazing Grace Sunday" isn't until the fall, we gathered on the beach to do our parish's version early. We raised $105 by people bringing their Toonies (or other donations) for the work of the church in the North of Canada. Visit http://youtube.com/watch?v=QSHq-3G63Xw to see the video on YOUTUBE.

As payback for a pie Tim had hit Rev. Matthew with, a game was devised where Tim got his just desserts. It was called the HaHa game! And Tim's hat was removed just before we started to play. And a suggestion was made that he had a nice shirt on that he probably wouldn't want to get dirty! And he knew he was going to get payback. And yet he never caught on! Ah Tim, you made it very satisfying . . . Thanks for being a good sport!

I guess the deMolitors didn't know that Tim had already got one up on Matthew, so they decided to help him out and dosed him with a cooler full of water while he tried to explain the rules for Messy Battleship.

When your ship was hit you got punished. Rev. Matthew was the first to have a hit on him. I wonder if purple slime should actually be reserved for Bishops? I'm sure +Sue doesn't mind!

Our brave and (mostly) clean volunteers. From l-r - Tim Kenney (UPEI student), Chelsea Dash (youth group member who was supposed to be the host), Kim Williamson (really cool mom who was an absolute last minute substitute for someone who couldn't be there), Carson Swim, (youth group participant and local musician) and Matthew Sponagle (the rector that devised this whole game as a way to get Tim slimed.)

Kim's slime ship was sunk - she was the first out.

As homer Simpson would say: mmmm . . . chocolate. For more pictures of the mess, visit the "youth pics" tab at the top of the page.

The Regional ACW rally was held at Christ Church, Shelburne, 10 May 2008. This picture was taken to commemorate the use of the 2010- vestments and gospel book. Representatives of all three active ACW groups were present.

The Easter Vigil was shared this year with the Parish of Shelburne at Holy Trinity, Jordan Falls. It was also the last service for which we had the 2010 Gospel Book.

This year at the Easter Vigil we welcomed two new members into the household of God. Here is Bradle Tomas DeMolitor with his Parents, Sister and Sponsors.

This is Brooke Emma Slauenwhite with her parents and sponsors.

Palm Sunday 2008 at Holy Cross, Lockeport

A picture of the final service at St. Peter's Anglican Church in West Green Harbour. This is the renewal of baptismal vows before we left the building ... a reminder that just because this building is closed the church continues to serve its mission in other ways.

We leave St. Peter's one last time.

We had our annual Epiphany service and social again this year at Beth Chandler's.

Good food and good conversation followed.

The "Singing Angels" of Holy Cross, Lockeport, went about the community delivering "singing Christmas Cards" as a fund raiser for the church and as outreach for the community.

Mrs. Claus and some elves dropped by to deliver cookies to nursing homes and other residences. Santa has some good helpers in this bunch, who are members of Holy Trinity Church in Jordan Falls.

Rev. Matthew received his Christmas present early from the people of St. Peter's Church, West Green Harbour. Inspired by his desire to sweep the floor following a meeting, they gave him a new dustpan!

oh . .. they also gave him a homemade "Memory Quilt" which has squares made by the various church and ACW members. It is covered with people's names, images and handywork. It will be cherished (even more than the dustpan).

Members of the Parish attended the "Small Church-Great Church!" conference where we learned Appreciative Inquirery skills. Shown are our lay representatives Elizabeth Pooley and Elizabeth deMolitor with a new friend Mike Foley.

Group 2 - after the laity-planned worship. From Left - The Rev. Matthew Sponagle (Lockeport-Barrington), Anne Coolen (Hubbards), Mike Foley (Musquodoboit Harbour), Eleanor Keeping (Ship Harbour), Grant Redding (Shelburne), Cheryl McLeod (Seaforth), Cheryl McLellan (Maitland), Elizabeth Pooley (Lockeport-Barrington), Janet Tipert(New Germany), Lorne (Maitland)
